RAKU WORKSHOPS FOR ACC MEMBERS ONLY
The 4-hour Sunday Raku Workshop will start at 10am.
The workshop is limited to 6 participants and each participant will be able to fire 6 pots. If there are fewer participants, each participant should be able to fire more pots per person. If you have additional pots, you are welcome to bring them. Please prioritize your pieces so that your “must haves” are done first.
Soldate or Raku clay are suggested for best results, however, other clays can be used and must be cone 6 and above (but may be at greater risk of damage due to thermal shock). When planning your pieces, be mindful that they need to be of a size and shape that can be handled with tongs. All pieces should have been bisque fired to cone 04-06.
If doing horsehair or foil saggar, we recommend Terra Sig prior to bisque firing (you can skip Terra Sig and go with just a well-burnished pot, but the result may be less ‘dramatic’). We will do horsehair and foil saggar for those that want it. The studio will provide horsehair and foil. Other material for saggar must be provided by the participant. The studio has a variety of Raku glazes available for your use.
